IMPORTANT: Fontana Lake is a man-made lake that is maintained by the TVA. From September to November, the TVA lowers the water levels by 60 feet. This is a slow procedure, so reservations during these months will likely have less water in the lake than in summer months, but reservations in the earlier portion of this timeframe are less likely to see a dramatic amount of water loss in the lake. Regardless, Fontana is a very deep lake. This annual "draw-down" only affects the ability to park a boat on the property, it does not affect fishing. Water levels will generally rise to normal levels in April, but this is subject to change, as the TAV may make adjustments to their schedule.
